Gala apples are a cross between two classic American apple varieties - Golden Delicious and a Kidd's Orange Red. The Gala apple variety was first cultivated in New Zealand in the 1930's. It came to the United States in 1974. Gala apples contain a sugar level of about 15%, making them one of the sweetest varieties. Basket not included.
